Tim Hill is a musician and artist who creates outdoor celebrations, shows and music. He engages with and researches traditions of outdoor ritual and celebration, processions, street music and outdoor noise. He is also a composer, improvisor and band leader. Tim has played with samba bands around Stonehenge and on the back of trucks at Notting Hill carnival, led giants through the streets of London, created Olympic Torch events, cooked celebratory feasts, written wassail songs, and led funeral services.

Tim has been musical director for many outdoor arts companies. Most recently on the Wye Valley River Festival 2018 and 2020, on ‘Wayfaring’ a project by ‘And Now’ working with AONBs on Chalk landscapes in the UK, and ‘The Band at the End of the World for Ramshaklicious appearing at festivals all over the UK. With the Mellstock Band he recreates the English rural music of the 18th and 19th centuries, appearing in many TV and film productions including the classic BBC Pride and Prejudice. Tim also creates projects with schools, gives lectures and talks at Universities, colleges and conferences. In Somerset he started the community street band The Big Noise, runs the Hullabaloo improvising Orchestra for and led the 2012 Cultural Olympiad celebrations
